No one knows how things will pan out wrt the tarrifs & rest. There are many guesses, may be some more realistic & some not, but end of the day, they are guesses (just like my bad guesses :D).
But those who make 1930s comparison has one fundamental variable they are missing.
So far I understand (I only have limited understanding in this area), back then economies were not run on fiat currency i.e States did not have as much control over economies, so moneybags had lot more power over soceities than they have today.
So, if they wanted to destroy societies, they could do it, without much trouble (JP Morgan, Rothschilds & rest of banking families/groups could exercise disproportionate power over societies relatively than they are now) & this is not true as much now, as most States have their own printers & have some tools in their hands to deal with situations somewhat better.
Since we are talking about Empire here, the society thats central to global exploitative capitalist order, that printer has far more power, whose power can be wielded to get the results one wants.
Even if a recession in Empire starts & it cascades (I dont know if it happens, I dont know if its likely, but lets say), it cant be because of the circumstances like in the case of 1930s.
In anycase, I will have to read more in upcoming days to adjust my understanding.
