#StarTrek sure does like to rewrite the properties of real-life substances.

#StarTrekVoyager introduces the concept of “antimatter waste”, an intensely radioactive byproduct of matter-antimatter reactions (and an alien species, the Malons, who suffer from an excess of it).

Real-life matter-antimatter reactions, by contrast, are notable for *not* leaving byproducts behind.

Whose bright idea was it to design a long-range explorer ship with components that can't be replicated in the field?

I don't care if the computers are faster. That won't do any good if they get damaged and there's no way to replace them.
