hippo painting study

a gouache painting of 4 grey and pink hippos lying on sandy ground, done as a taped-up rectangle on a larger sheet of tan paper that is visible around the painting proper. some of the lines of the under drawing extend beyond the taped borders of the painting. the masking tape has been removed but has left behind it some nice clean edges for the painted rectangle
