The Stromboli as seen from the foot of the volcano, on the city side. It's a huge black shape against the sky. From the summit, fumes and clouds are blending together. It looks threatening and ominous.

A small volcanic island just nearby the Stromboli. It has a lighthouse on top. The island is about 30 or 50 meters high and its shape looks flat on top and there is cliffs on every side, meaning it's a bit like a hat without border rising from the sea.

A volcanic small island in the Stromboli surroundings (Eolian islands). The isle has a triangle shape, with the top point beeing on the left hand side. It is very spiky and the shadows give it a dramatic outlook.

A mummy pinned to the wall. The body is a bearded monk and the skull is completely broken, revealing the inside. The arms are crossed down in front of the belly and is looking a bit twisted. It sits inside a recess of the wall, and alongside are several bunk beds of the like, on which other corpses lie.

A skull has been embedded inside a statue, everything put inside a recess of the wall. The statue is a bust with hair or hat of some sort and there's a hole through which we can see the skull.

Also two other mummies, one wearing a hood and looking down, another with the face wrinkled and twisted by the skin having shrinked throughout the centuries.

The second is from the Catacombs Palermo's. It's a complicated place because it is dark, you can't take photographs out of respect and you need to be careful not to be pushed around by the others since the space is easily crowded.

The staff was extremely nice to me, allowing the use of water and paint inside while it is dangerous for the mummies and that a disaster awaits in every alley. Many thanks to them!

Ok so this is yet another sketchbook from my past holidays in Sicilia. But as I have something from before that I did'nt post, here you go.

So the first sketch is a total failure but it still is interesting despite the mess it is. It's on the northern coast of Bretagne, not very far from Saint-Malo.

It is plein air and took about a couple hours before I just decided that this was wrong right from the start.
