# How many lines of code to show our love for coders?
print("Just one: 🇪🇺 ❤️ 👨‍💻👩‍💻")

On #WorldCodingDay, we celebrate your passion and commitment to code an innovative, open digital society.

We are here to help with:

🔹 The Digital Markets Act, ensuring fair access to essential platform services and promoting interoperability.

🔸 The Digital Services Act, protecting your fundamental rights online.

Europe's new digital rulebook is the source code.

You are the compiler that brings it to life.

Two and a half weeks are left, to make the official European Citizens Initiative #TaxTheRich work!

We still need 6̶9̶0̶.̶0̶0̶0̶ 673.000 signatures, which sounds like a lot, but for a union of 450 million people, it should be a piece of cake!

We also still need 4 more countries to reach their national threshold of supporters:

BE, NL, IT, ES, SE are on a good way.

If you are an #EU citizen, and have not signed yet:

What are you waiting for?

Edit: Number updated.

In the near-term, the EU’s regulatory flex is a roadmap for a feature starved version of iOS in the EU. If Apple has to fork iOS anyway, the safe bet is to withhold features from EU users; reducing regulatory risk, containing security exposure, and limiting development investment in the iOS fork.

The EU wants Apple make iOS available to everyone who wants access to it, and to sacrifice the tight vertical integration that makes it valuable to consumers. It regards iOS as a public utility, and is trying to nationalize it without acknowledging it’s doing so. There might be a point when operating in the EU is financially untenable for Apple; if it has to destroy the user experience and increase security exposure for the reward of less money.

🇪🇺⚖️ Today is a good day for European citizens, tax justice, and fair competition.

In its final judgment, @Curia has confirmed our 2016 decision that Ireland granted illegal aid to Apple, requiring the release of up to 13 billion euros in unpaid taxes.

The court has also upheld our decision against Google for abusing its dominant position by favouring its own comparison shopping service and the resulting €2.4 billion fine.

I think I'm starting to understand @jon about #EU-wide ticketing system.

After trying to wrangle Austrian, Czech and German rail to sell me a ticket from Prague to Trier and I'm ready to give up and go by bus.

After having acceptable or good experience with #CrossBorderRail in eastern half of Europe, western half feels like a mess.

A really important initiative if you’re an EU citizen and want to improve consumer rights for digital products, and stop your purchases being taken from you or disabled:

I don’t often ask that you boost things, but please do.
