imagine if you press the "/" key when nothing is selected the post box is highlighted like in roblox chat and google search.

i personally think it would be neat. Less need to touch the mouse.

We at Vivaldi are the only browser company with a Mastodon server. We have chosen to support the Fediverse in every way we can. We will continue to do so as we need options away from Big Tech.

@OddDev Thanks for reporting; this has been fixed.

There is a small number of hashtags that trended early in the history of the "trending hashtags", and not since then, that had a misconfiguration applied to them some years ago.

Because Mastodon has still not improved the trending hashtags admin feature since then, there are no admin tools to manage hashtags that aren't trending, so the only way we can (quickly) resolve this scenario is once they are discovered and reported.

Update: they’ve reportedly reinstated the #antifa hashtag. As well as #noAFD, which was, apparently, also blocked.

Hey FLOSS.social, do you understand that “antifa” stands for “anti fascist?” Do you know what folks who are anti-anti fascist are? That’s right, they’re fascists.

While you’re at it, you might also want to look up what the “F” and the “L” in your name stand for.

If they don’t fix this ASAP, I’d recommend a swift #fediblock by any instance that isn’t fascist.

I’m curious. This place has a very vocal anti-capitalist community, anytime moneys come up people shout about donations. When it comes to consent and Trust & Safety I’ve seen many people attack devs. Yet, when #Mastodon was asking for donations to fund a position it was largely crickets. #IFTAS has done great work and set out to be a great benefit to the #fediverse and #OpenSocialWeb yet they’re struggling to keep the lights on. How can that be? So many of you are always talking about donations so why are projects underfunded and servers shutting down due to lack of funding? With the latest update to #Mastodon's web app, we show you a little reminder when you're about to post a picture without adding alt text. Alt text is crucial for accessibility, but has other perks too, such as making it much easier to search for your post—or filter it. Of course, the reminder can be simply toggled off in preferences.

Mastodon communities, be vigilant! Bad actors are creating accounts within the Fediverse and then using them to distribute malware. We identified one such case in which the threat actor had gone undetected since 2022. That Mastodon instance was one with a climate change focus. The threat actor was distributing an information stealer through their account.

We are happy to have helped the instance owner figure out why they have been on blocklists intermittently for the last few years, but also get that particular threat out of their Mastodon instance and safe for users.

There are undoubtedly many more of these across the Fediverse. Hopefully more awareness can get them detected and shut down faster.

and a c2 IP 78[.]47[.]227[.]68 from the instance.

I always struggle to pay attention to the metrics, but it looks like #Mastodon for Android downloads are up 455% recently. This tracks with how many new people I've been seeing on the explore page recently. Don't know if it's a coincidence but I think your help in fixing our app's rating might have had a hand in this...

Someone explain PixelFed to me. Can I use it to make it easier to post photos to Mastodon on this account? Or is it a completely different thingy? (By thingy I mean platform or instance.) I don’t find it easy to post photos or short video clips here. Would PixelFed fix that? Or is is just a different realm where people share pictures?

This past week I have heard the same question thrown around over and over again: "what's the point of setting up a #Pixelfed account if the software is interoperable with the rest of the Fediverse? Why not just post photos on Mastodon or Sharkey or __?"
