And to put the rest in context: #Bluesky and #Flipboard still bring by far the most traffic per follower. #Mastodon is now a little bit behind #Facebook. #Threads and #X bring way, way less.

Another week is over, time for new stats regarding traffic to @heiseonline: It seems like there is a new balance with #Mastodon in front, #Bluesky brings now half as much. Although we stopped posting to #X, it still brings in more than #Threads and roughly as much as #Flipboard.

This is how, as a company, you leave that terrible website that fElon now runs

Mastodon is benefitting from the #X exodus (eXodus?) too: The official app downloads are up 47% on iOS and 17% on Android. Sign-ups are up approx. 27% compared to previous month with about 90K new accounts, while the MAU has jumped to 894K (across all Mastodon servers).

Exactly two years ago, we started to post links on #Mastodon via our account @heiseonline 👇

It took longer, than I expected, but here we are: it seems like this account now brings continuously more #traffic to heise.de than #X (#Twitter) in its entirety, although it only has ÂĽ of the follower number (and many of them don't seem to be active anymore).
I'll prepare some graphs after the weekend.

Vorerst ist das hier der offizielle Mastodon-Account von heise online.
Wird jetzt erst einmal händisch befüllt, aber wir haben schon weitergehende Pläne und wollen hier mehr machen.

🚀1 year since we left #X / #Twitter

Our move to #Mastodon wasn't just a platform switch. It was a leap into #OpenScience in action.

We found a chance to align our communication w/ our values: transparent, meaningful, dialogue-driven.

💜Thanks, 🦣-community, for this wonderful experience. We learn a lot here.

@trwnh FWIW, personally I'm getting quite tired of Markdown limitations, and have been using AsciiDoc(tor) more whenever I can. Of course It has its own set of limitations, but for example it has this generic “span” markup that allows thematic customization (e.g. one can do [.strike]#x# and define a CSS class for strikethrough —could even be more semantic than HTML's <s>).

“For Twitter to earn the public trust, it must remain politically neutral,” so says the man wearing a MAGA hat. File this one under “tweets that didn’t age well.”

Hi, feel like promoting #mastodon ? We are going to raid elon Musk’s #centralized #proprietary #twitter #twixxer #x promoting to migrate here. If you feel like promoting the #fediverse against proprietary centralized social media, this is your chance. Feel free to post links below and to boost the ones below :).

I have been asked this, and yes, sign-ups and overall traffic from #Brazil are picking up today, following the #X ban. Bem-vindos ao Mastodon!

For the second time in <2 wks, a doctored video of MVP #KamalaHarris has spread widely on #ElonMusk’s #SocialMedia platform #X.

A video known as a “#deepfake” that was posted on X on Sat *appears* to show #Harris repeating herself over & over again, using a crude audio rendering made to seem like Harris is struggling to finish a complete sentence.

This is a smart move by @Mastodon. #Twitter / #X journalism is struggling, and #Threads doesn’t want journalism. Mastodon is leaning into it though, “To reinforce and encourage Mastodon as the go-to place for journalism, we’re launching a new feature today.” I think this is a lever for differentiation; making Mastodon more valuable to journalists and users.
