There remains a massive crisis in local library provision, largely hidden from the middle-classes with their kindles, high-speed broadband & delivery of books to home....
But for many, libraries are both an intellectual life-line & an engine of self improvement & stability (or even shelter).
Its yet another aspect of JK Galbraith's tendency in capitalism towards private affluence & public squalor....
Save our libraries from (even) more austerity
Finished this yesterday and not sure what to think. In the end it was quite sad but for sure Ursula seemed to be exploring the nature of consciousness and morality. So much depth in the 180 or so pages it’s crazy.
